The Southeast Louisiana Clean Fuel Partnership is one of many US Dept. of Energy Clean Cities Coalitions throughout the United States. Recognizing that no one Clean Cities Coalition can be an expert on every fuel, vehicle and technology, we regularly share information in order to support each other’s efforts. The programs below are a sample of the projects and programs that other Clean Cities Coalitions are involved in. This information is provided to generate ideas on how to implement cleaner transportation in our region. Please note that any funding mentioned may be restricted to that particular Clean Cities Coalition’s geographic region and may not be available in our metropolitan area.

Reports from the U.S. Department of Energy show that the average taxi travels 60,000 to 80,000 miles per year. With this level of mileage, taxi operators can make great strides in reducing emissions by replacing their older taxis with newer models that make use of cleaner technologies (PDF). These technologies could include alternative fuel or advanced propulsion technologies, such as hybrid or plug-in electric systems, among others.
